Mary Anne Vaz is a self-taught artist currently resides in Miri. She paints to capture special moments to share her experience and memories. She is skillful in acrylic and batik painting. She started her artistic journey at the age of six when she won the Queen’s Gold Medal in a national art competition and later won the prestigious Nehru Award at the Shanker International Art Exhibition when she turned sixteen. She has exhibited in China and won national and international art contests. In 2019 she was featured in the launching of the Sarawak Fashion Brand “ Alta Moda” a platform for Sarawakian designers and artists. For her love and passion towards art, she have turned her home into a Young Artist Studio where young talented children and adults get the chance to learn, share and realise their artistic side. Mary Anne Vaz is a member of Sarawak Artists Society. Her works can be found adorning offices and private collectors’ homes in Sarawak. She participated in several art exhibitions such as the opening exhibition launching Pustaka Miri, art exhibitions held in conjunction with the Miri Fest and Art for Conservation with Wildlife Conservation Society.
