Orang Ulu Warrior

Sale Price: RM12,000

The Warrior is performing the War Dance or the Ngajat; dressed in full ceremonial regalia complete with a long sword (parang) and an elaborately painted shield of tribal motifs and the headgear adorned with pheasant and hornbill feathers. In the distant past the dance was enacted to celebrate a successful headhunting expedition. Now, it is a form of entertainment to welcome distinguished visitors to the longhouse or during special occasions like weddings or harvest festivals. This warrior belongs to the Orang Ulu tribe, one of the many tribes found in Sarawak.
